Wounded

Fear in the eyes of a soldier is the truest form of fear itself. The rushing sounds of thunder that is not following lightening. Thunder that rains down snatching the life of a brother or sister. Screams deafening and drowning out any noise that may arise. Men and women running for their lives into directions unknown and untouched. When the thunder stops it's as if the world is uncomfortably silent. Repeated process until all humanity is stripped away for us to sleep without stir. Only for the solider to return home a third of the person they once were. Trying to grasp normality, even when the sound of friendly thunder sends chills through the leather skin of a soldier who only knew thunder of the grim.

Growing pains

As a child it's all fun and games, but as you get older it all seems to change. You go to school to get a piece of paper. That is supposed to support you and your family later. Day by day you work through the night, hoping your loved ones are tucked in tight. Life is supposed to love, purpose, and meaning, yet everyone is to blind to see what is missing. Growing old the day has come where you figure it all out. That what life is missing is really all it's about. Spending time with your family, children, and wife because we are not promised tomorrow in this short life.

Sunny, Rainy

The deepest cuts leave the most vital scars for they hold the clay that molds us as a whole. Sometimes it's the pretty smiles that shine and dull out into a blade. Wondering if the cut is worth the glimpse of sunshine you once saw in a world of darkness.

White Caps

How sad is it that we refuse to see how bad something really is until it completely destroys us. Flowing alongside the river not understanding the water is becoming rapids until we're grasping for breath. Is it to late?

Happiness

Feel the sunshine on your face, soak it in and illuminate your soul. Being happy is your perception, make it what you choose. Whether it's your favorite flavor ice cream late at night tucked in a warm fluffy blanket or an early morning jog to sweat out the complications of life. Your happiness is your choice, no one else's. Staying present can feel like a chore at times but in doing so your happiness becomes your first priority. When you walk into a room you'll wear it in way that other people become happier too, it's a beautiful cycle.
